NEW BOOK: Photographing Liverpool by Geoff Drake

We are pleased to announce that Geoff Drake will be the author-photographer of Photographing Liverpool. Geoff is a fine art photographer and specialises in photographs of Liverpool, his home city, as well as taking photographic trips further afield to the USA and Norway.

Liverpool is one of the UK’s most interesting cities, and will need little introduction to many, situated by the mouth of river Mersey’s estuary, originally a fishing village it has been a major port since the 18th century and its docks: the Royal Albert Dock, Canning, Salthouse and Princes, along with Royal Liver and Cunard Buildings, are major attractions for anyone with a camera. Geoff will also be exploring Liverpool’s music connections, the Beatles and Cilla Black of course, and buildings such as the  Philharmonic Hall home to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

The extent of Geoff’s book will encompass parts of the Wirral, and parts of Merseyside, but will concentrate on much of the city area with forays out to Anfield (home to Liverpool FC), and Everton’s Goodison Park (and soon their new stadium at Bramley-Moore). Both cathedrals will be covered, the Georgian terrace houses, and parks such as Sefton and Everton Park, as well as some street and urban photography. We will give a complete list of areas covered closer to publication.

Geoff already has a significant catalogue of images, but he will be out in all weathers and seasons as he completes his writing up.
