Photographing London by George Johnson

Photographing London by George Johnson will be fotoVUE’s first city photo-location guidebook. George is writing up the last few chapters and is taking advantage of autumn to get out with his camera. But who is George Johnson?

George Johnson commutes from Hoddesdon about 8 miles north of London to Liverpool Street station. He then walks along the Thames to Westminster to his job near Piccadilly in the West End. Monday to Friday, to work and back home again, George carries his Sony A6000 with him – a compact mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses –  and uses it, photographing early as London wakes up and when it’s busy as the night begins.

George was brought in Deptford, a spit from all the classic London sights and classic photographic locations: Saint Paul’s and the Millennium Bridge, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square; his London Eye image was commended in the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year 2014 competition.

George’s photo-location guidebook to London is perfect if you are visitor wanting to take photographs of London’s iconic landmarks on your holiday. He will guide you to the best places and suggest itineraries.

But this is more than a tour of the well-trodden sights, George’s knowledge of London is as deep as a driver of one of capital’s infamous black cabs. If you are a keen photographer and want to get off the beaten track to capture images that are unique George has spread his net wide for you from the Isle of Dogs to Richmond Park.

Illustrated with detailed street-level maps by our talented cartographer Don Williams and with full location co-ordinates – postcodes and lat/long – and directions, Photographing London by George Johnson is due out Spring 2017.
