Dougie came to photography through climbing and kayaking, eventually realising that he found as much satisfaction in getting a good photograph of someone else scaring the wits out themselves as he did facing his own mortality on the end of a rope or running the next rapid. From there it was an natural transition into landscape photography, which laid the solid technical foundation that he’s built the rest of his photographic skills upon. In addition to landscapes, Dougie photographs weddings and events, ranging from corporate functions to outdoor festivals. Clients include Aberdeen Asset Management, Red Bull and the Keswick Mountain Festival. He is a regular contributor to The Great Outdoors magazine, both as a writer and photographer. Recently featured on the BBC’s One Show as part of a photography challenge for the solar eclipse, Dougie has also appeared on the Fred MacAuley Show and Scotland Outdoors. On both occasions he feels he can reasonably claim to be the best photographer you’ll have seen on the radio all day! Dougie recently won the Classic View category of the Landscape Photographer of the Year competition, and is currently putting the finishing touches on his magnum opus: the fotoVUE guidebook Photographing Scotland, which is due to be released in Spring 2017
