The areas tall limestone spires and towers are surrounded by high alpine meadows and pastures rich with flowers, all accessed by panoramic paths and high mountain passes. Fast flowing streams cascade down to medieval villages and churches in the valleys.
The author and photographer is James Rushforth (website) who has spent the last decade exploring the Dolomites and is the author of three Dolomite climbing and skiing guidebooks.
